Waiting on God involves enduring months /years of hardship, uncertainty, and testing. It is not the most preferred season for most believers. The Bible gives us perfect examples of men and women who waited on God for extended periods; among them are Abraham and Sarah, Hannah, Job, Noah, Moses, and other heroes of faith. Their stories are punctuated with Faith, perseverance, trust, pain, tears, struggles, mockery, and ridicule. The case is not different for current believers. Are you currently waiting on God? Here is the unfiltered truth about this trying season of a believer’s journey.
1. Waiting on God is not easy. Most of the time, it feels like everyone else is having it easy in life except you.
2. Most of the time, God is silent (but of course He is working behind the scenes). I learnt from a certain servant of God that anytime God is silent, we should always trust His presence because He is always there.
3. Waiting on God is draining. Constant prayer without visible results. Are we supposed to give up? Definitely No.
4. Some days are easy, some days are difficult, but God expects us to continue trusting Him because He has promised never to leave or forsake us.(Hebrews 13:5).
5. Trust in God altogether (it is very, very difficult). Always remember that everything is working for our own good. Romans 12:28
6. This is the period when our faith is tested the most. Remember the definition of Faith in Hebrews 11:1 ( Faith is the confidence in what we hope for, the assurance about what we do not see).
7. Too many voices often speak to you at the same time, seeking to draw you away from the presence of God. Pray for discernment every day.
8. Tears are inevitable. If need be, cry and let it all out. No tear is wasted in the presence of God.
9. The urge to lament and question God grows every single day. Instead of lamenting, choose to speak to God about everything. Make all your concerns known to Him. Let Him know how you feel and why you feel that way.
10. Waiting for too long often breeds desperation. The devil takes advantage of this and tries to give you alternatives. Do Not fall for them. Remember the temptation of Jesus in Matthew 4.
In conclusion, waiting on God builds our faith, our patience, our trust in God, and the love we have for Him. It shapes our character and strengthens our faith. Enduring this season fosters personal, spiritual, and emotional growth.
Waiting on God is often difficult and painful, but as God promises us, He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Take heart, God is at work!
